SUPERPRO TEST PROCEDURE The installation disk includes a test software which helps you to maintain the programmer. The file name is sptest.exe. Run this software to test the hardware of the programmer. SPTEST includes four test procedures: 1. Communication Check [Remove Test Adapter] 2. Transistor Check [Insert Test Adapter] 3. Calibration 4. Change Port 0. Quit Communication Check: Communication Check checks for proper communication between the interface card and the programmer. Please make sure the programmer is turned on. Check if the port address on the card is at 280H and the if the interface card is properly plugged. If the card address is not at 280H, then go to se- lection 5 and change the port address to match the setting on the interface card. Execute SPTEST, and select 1, and the software will perform communication check. If there are any bad transistors, it will indicate those transistors. Replace the bad transistors and execute the test software again. Transistor Check: Transistor check, checks for all the transistors in the pin driver circuitry and indicate the pin number and transistor which has error. To perform this test you need to build a Resistor array of 330 Ohms by connecting every pin to pin 20 through a 330 Ohm resistor. Pin 20 is the ground pin on the programmer. Connect 1 to 20, 2 to 20 , 3 to 20, ........................., 39 to 20 and 40 to 20 with a 330 Ohm resistor. (altogether 39 resistors) 330 330 pin 1 ---====----|----====---- pin40 pin 2 ---====----|----====---- pin39 pin 3 ---====----|----====---- pin38 pin 5 ---====----|----====---- pin36 pin 6 ---====----|----====---- pin35 pin 7 ---====----|----====---- pin34 pin 8 ---====----|----====---- pin33 pin 9 ---====----|----====---- pin32 pin 10 ---====----|----====---- pin31 pin 11 ---====----|----====---- pin30 pin 12 ---====----|----====---- pin29 pin 13 ---====----|----====---- pin28 pin 14 ---====----|----====---- pin27 pin 15 ---====----|----====---- pin26 pin 16 ---====----|----====---- pin25 pin 17 ---====----|----====---- pin24 pin 18 ---====----|----====---- pin23 pin 19 ---====----|----====---- pin22 pin 20 -----------|----====---- pin21 Execute SPTEST, and select 2 for the transistor check. If there are any bad transistors, the software lists pin number and the bad transistor. For example Pin29, trQ45 will show up indicating that the transistor Q45 is error. Open up the programmer and replace the transistor and run the tran- sistor check again. You can buy the test adapter for $25.00 from Xeltek. Calibration: Calibration checks for the three voltages that are generated on the programmer. These are voltage sources V1, V2 and V3. The voltage source V1 is measured at pin 21, voltage source V2 is measured at pin 22 and voltage source V3 is measured at pin25. Under normal conditions V1 should be 15V, V2 should 10.5V and V3 should be 5V. You require a voltmeter to run this test. These voltages are measured using volt- meter(DVM) with respect to pin 20 which is the ground. If these voltages are off, open up the programmer and adjust the voltage source using the three variable potentiometers, RV1, RV2, and RV3 until the desired voltage is attained. Change Port: Change port allows you to change the port on the test soft- ware in correspondence to the hardware setting when the com- munication check fails. The default port is set at 280H. Quit: Selecting this quits the sptest and goes to the DOS prompt.
